Use Google Toolbar Search Box As Your Second Copy & Paste
Often when I have used the Copy & Paste function I was stuck with frustration - I wanted to replace text somewhere, but didn’t want to lose the content I was replacing, or I wanted to copy more than one piece of information and be able to paste it elsewhere.
A practical example of this is imagine you have a username and password that someone emails you. They are both long and filled with all types of characters (basically impossible for you to remember just by looking at it).
One of my favorite uses of the Google Toolbar, aside from peeking at PageRank of various sites, is the copy & paste hack. In our example we’ll use the technique to login faster with the username and password.
Steps
1) Locate the two pieces of information you want to use
2) Now, copy the username (or any other information) and paste it into your Google Toolbar search box (but wait, don’t click go!).
3) Next, copy the password (or any other information) and just keep that in the copy function.
4) Navigate to the login page of the site you are copying the info for.
5) Paste the password by clicking CTRL+V into the field.
6) Lastly, just copy the text in the Google Toolbar search box (your username, in this case), and paste it into the username field.
I accomplished this in the past using Notepad to copy and paste information from emails so I could use them on other pages, but Google Toolbar’s search box is just faster to use if you only need two pieces of information. As far as I can tell, you can even enter full paragraphs in there to “hold” while you navigate to another website page.
I have found this to save me a lot of time, especially with logins - we all seem to have way too many of them these days…

My congoo netpass toolbar does that too, it also gets me free access into hundreds of subscription sites. Google’s toolbar is cool but there’s no value in it…I can get google results from google.

I do that same thing.. the url bar works also. but the google option is great for when using tabs
Jesse,
The advantage over the URL bar is that if I need to go to another page to enter the info the URL bar is filled instead with the new address, where the Google Toolbar holds that information across pages.

What I like to use is GoogleDesktop’s note widget. Anything written there stays saved.
